SASH Tour Guides at Bishopthorpe Palace
A huge well done to our five young people who acted as very special tour guides at Bishopthorpe Palace yesterday!
Jadzia, Kieran, Ollie, Ryan and Suzan did a fantastic job as they led our VIP guests through the rooms at the Palace, which is not normally open to the public. They provided information on the history, paintings and furniture of each room, addressing two groups of over 20 SASH supporters and funders. Their courage and expert delivery thoroughly impressed their audience!
They all reported they’d had a great time and were glad they had taken up the challenge. Kieran told us:“It was a really good experience. I was nervous at first, but the more I got through the script the more confident I got and at the end it felt great! I spoke to some of the guests afterwards and they all really enjoyed it.”
Each tour was followed by tea and delicious homemade cakes, courtesy of the staff at Bishopthorpe Palace.
The tours were offered as part of our SASH Active programme and were only possible thanks to the support that the staff at the Palace are offering to SASH, which they have chosen as their charity of the year.
Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Bishopthorpe Palace for everything they are doing to help our work.
