James Takes on the February Accumulator Challenge for SASH

This month, our supporter, James, is keeping active and staying motivated by taking on the February Accumulator Challenge. James, 18, decided to get involved in the event from Great Run and fundraise for SASH to help support other local young people.

Looking forward to the virtual challenge, James said: “I know personally how tough it has been for young people during the pandemic with all the disruptions to education and training, but I’m lucky enough to have a safe place to call home. I wanted to get involved with this challenge and fundraise for SASH, to do my bit to help the young people that SASH supports who face homelessness. I can’t imagine how scary that must be for other young people, especially at a time like this.”

With a fun Valentine’s theme, participants in the February Accumulator Challenge need to log at total of 14 runs before February is up to receive their unique heart-shaped medal.
James, currently on run number three said of the challenge: “It’s a good motivator to keep on pushing yourself actually. Even when the weather’s a bit rubbish outside you feel like you want to get out there and log another run because you know it’s actually making a difference.”

The challenge has even turned into a family affair in James’ household, with his mum, Jo, also signing up.

A family affair – James has got his mum, Jo, involved with the challenge too

So, if you fancy following the Stevens’ great example and turning this tricky time of year into something really positive that will help to fund vital work on your community, why not sign up too?

Places cost £15 and we’re asking our wonderful supporters if they could aim to raise £50 in sponsorship to help us give the vulnerable young people we support a safe place to stay this winter and the support they need to get back on their feet.

If you’ve have any questions, would like further info, just email our friendly Fundraising Team at fundraising@sash-uk.org.uk and we’d be happy to help.
