We took over York Dungeon!
Our lodgers enjoyed a night out with a difference last month as they took over York Dungeon.
For the third year running, our wonderful supporters at the York Dungeon offered our young people the opportunity to take the place of the professional actors and lead visitors through some of the more gruesome aspects of York’s history.
Staff at the Dungeon generously gave up their time for free to coach the group, and on the night our young people threw themselves into their parts:
Dom (18) was a perhaps-too-enthusiastic Executioner; Suzan (17) relished her role as Plague Doctor; Georgia (17) made a very creepy ghostly Innkeeper; Jadzia (21) was more than a little unsettling as Scary Nun and Ollie (18) once again made a very formidable Judge. Raid (25) and Jemma (18) played a key role on the doors.
After five tours, including a ‘VIP special’ as a thank you to some of our supporters, the event ended with an end-of-show party generously provided by the York Dungeon management team.
All in all, it was a fantastic event and our young people didn’t hold back with their praise:
“I enjoyed taking over York Dungeon for the third year in a row, still brilliant and I still loved it.” Jadzia
“Amazing, funny and hilarious. I had loads of fun and it boosted my confidence even more! “ Ollie
“Amazing night with amazing staff couldn’t thank them enough for the experience.” Georgia
The evening, part of our SASH Active programme, was a fun way to help seven of our young people increase their confidence and self-esteem.
Our grateful thanks to everyone at York Dungeons who helped make this event happen, our amazing young people who all did a fantastic job, and all those who bought tickets and supported us on the night!
