Local businesswoman raises £5000 for SASH!
Catherine set herself this ambitious fundraising target as a way of celebrating the 10th anniversary of her business, Kaleidoscope Virtual Assistant Services, because she wanted to mark the occasion by helping organisations in York that support children and young people. And to achieve it, she set out to walk and wild camp the entire length of the Cleveland Way, over seven days!
Catherine had no previous experience of long-distance walking and so faced the double challenge of getting fit for her route and raising the £10,000 she had set as her target. Talking about the fundraising, she said: “It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but so satisfying once I’d done it!
“People were amazingly generous – I couldn’t have done it without the support of local people and businesses!”.
Catherine reached her target through sponsorship for her walk and by also holding events including a coffee morning and race night.
So from all of us at SASH, a huge ‘well done and thank you!’ to Catherine. The £5,000 she has raised will help provide 270 nights of emergency accommodation for vulnerable young people who are facing homelessness.
