SASH was at York pride again this year as part of our SASH Active events.
Six of our young people came along and had a fantastic time – the sun shone, people cheered, and there was an abundance of rainbow flags right across the city. There was even a dancing policeman!
Our young people joined the estimated 2,000 who walked through the streets of the city centre and out to the Knavesmire, where there was an afternoon of entertainment which included live music, stalls and a fun fair.
They all had a great time carrying our SASH banner with pride and waving at the crowds who lined the streets. One of them said that ‘it was a great opportunity to represent SASH and show our support to the LGBT community.’
A huge thank you to everyone who came to represent SASH and helped us celebrate acceptance and diversity and a special thank you to our friends at The York Dungeon and The York Grand Opera House for inviting SASH to share their parade pitch at the front of the parade !
Everyone had a brilliant time and we’re already looking forward to York Pride 2019. See you there!
