Castle to Abbey Coastal Challenge 2023

This is an epic 22-mile walk along the coastal Cleveland Way from Scarborough Castle to Whitby Abbey. There are rewards aplenty on offer, whether it’s the pleasure of glimpsing dolphins out to sea; walking in wooded glades and along rugged clifftops; or passing through iconic fishing villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay. This coastal challenge is not easy but we can guarantee you will enjoy every step.

Yorkshire Coast 10k

The 10K course starts at the Scarborough SPA, it then routes round South Bay, past the harbour, round the headland and into North Bay. You get to run through the Open Air Theatre where there is a water stop and then out to the Sea Life Centre. Its then back along the coast road all the way back to the SPA. It’s mainly flat and an unofficial figure of around 200′ of climb over the length of the course.
