Helping out and puppy-hugging!
Our team of young volunteers put their gardening and DIY skills to the test last week, building a wildlife area in the grounds of the RSPCA in York.
Five young people aged between 17 and 25 all got stuck in, helping with groundworks, path and turf laying, digging and making a pond. There was a lot to get through, but thankfully the weather held out as they worked hard to get the work finished just before 5pm. The reward was a chance to play with the puppies afterwards!
The group was chuffed at the reaction of RSPCA staff, who came out at the end of the day and were all full of praise for the work they’d done.
Suzan said: “it was a great opportunity to do something for an amazing and welcoming charity that means a lot to me.”
Keah (who had travelled from Bridlington for the day!) said: “it was really fun, I met some new people and really loved helping out the RSPCA and of course holding the puppies!! Thank you for the experience.”
Our thanks to the RSPCA York, Harrogate and District Branch for this brilliant opportunity, to the young people who worked so hard and the Co-op Great North Way for providing lunch!
