Sleepout Success!

£24,347 and counting!

That’s how much we’ve raised from the 2019 York Sleepout, thanks to our amazing supporters and volunteers.

A record 110 people took part last Friday night. There were and local businesses, individuals, families with children. As always, there was a wonderful atmosphere, a great buzz as people arrived, set up their shelters and met other supporters.

A mild night and no rain meant a lot of our Sleepouters were still wide awake at midnight, but by the early hours the temperature had dipped to around 2 degrees, resulting in a very early morning for some!

As well as record numbers of participants, there were some truly inspirational fundraising efforts going on. 13-year-old Wilson has managed to raise £790 on his own. His motivation was simple: “I wanted to help people that are less fortunate than myself. I always like to give out food and drink to the homeless when I’m in town, but this way I could raise money for SASH who can reach more people than I can, especially the young homeless.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we have far exceeded our £12,000 target. We are hugely grateful to everyone who raised money, slept out or donated items to help make our Sleepout such a success.

The money raised will go directly toward funding our emergency Nightstop and Supported Lodgings projects this year.

Thank you so much, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Help us keep young people safe.

It costs over £290 a day to run our referral line arranging emergency accommodation for vulnerable young people. Can you help with a donation?
